The “Goldoni”, the only great historic theater in Livorno that survived the damage caused by the bombings of World War II, was born following the urban and architectural transformations carried out in Livorno in the first half of the 19th century during the rule of the Lorena family, when the new economic force, the merchant bourgeoisie, felt the need to create spaces that symbolize their social status.
The Goldoni Theater represents the city theater of Livorno. The Goldoni Theater is a production center for opera, an artistic sector of absolute importance recognized by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage of the Italian Republic.
Over the years, many opera productions have been produced in-house by the Goldoni Foundation, according to well-defined design lines by the Theater, first and foremost the one dedicated from the ’90s to the city’s greatest composer, Pietro Mascagni, a well-known musician abroad as a representative of Italian opera and culture. An activity that has received important recognition in Italy and abroad.
With the necessary artistic and technical expertise, the Goldoni Theater has thus created successful productions, landing on important stages in a circuit of national and international relationships, gaining a great deal of experience.
It can boast a very rich season with many programs including Opera, Drama, Dance, Concerts, Events, Classical with Taste, Cinema and a program dedicated to Non-Subscription events.
