Despite being one of the most beloved and performed titles in the world, Gaetano Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore had been missing from the Livorno stages since 1929, before the lyrical seasons of the Goldoni Foundation reintroduced it in 2018. It will close the 2026-27 lyrical season with a new production in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, with the musical interpretation of an experienced and renowned conductor like Fabrizio Maria Carminati, regularly invited to conduct the major national and international theatrical institutions, and the direction of Marialuisa Bafunno, known for a symbolic, interdisciplinary, and innovative approach to the traditional repertoire. A new opportunity to be captivated once again by the inexhaustible lyrical vein that runs through this playful opera, a masterpiece that splendidly combines comedy and sentimentality, farce and melancholy.
