STRABORGO turns three and does so by remaining faithful to a format that immediately proved successful: the summer event in Livorno that shines a spotlight on the identity of one of the neighborhoods that best represents the spirit of the city, coinciding with the Coppa Risi’atori. The result is four days of concerts, sports, and culture, combining tradition and innovation, set within the Borgo dei Cappuccini.
Straborgo is back, the event that for four years has brought together tradition and music to shine the spotlight on one of the most characteristic neighborhoods of the city: Borgo dei Cappuccini. The beating heart of the festival this year too remains Piazza Mazzini. The large quadrilateral flanked by centuries-old plane trees will host two free concerts and an evening of absolute fun. After the first ace struck with the presence of Rose Villain in Straborgo (Saturday 1st June), here comes the blow of the Livorno summer with the landing on the stage in Piazza Mazzini, Friday 31st May, of Subsonica, the historic group Turin just left with a tour of the arenas in which the new songs from their tenth studio album entitled “Augmented Reality” are revealed.
At the end of the three-day event, on Sunday 2 June, Ubaldo Pantani returns to Livorno. The comedian-imitator has been a protagonist on TV for years with programs on the networks and now on Nove by Fabio Fazio, mainly featuring very successful characters (Lapo Elkann, Massimo Giletti, Max Allegri, Gigi Buffon, Paolo Del Debbio, Mario Giordano and many others ).
On the afternoon of June 2nd the Risi’atori Cup. This year too, the public will be able to enjoy the queen of the 10-oar Gozzi race live thanks to aerial footage from drones shown on the giant screen set up in Piazza Mazzini. The images will be visible on granducato TV and in streaming on the social channels Visit Livorno, LEM Foundation, Gare Remiere Livorno and Municipality of Livorno. At the end of the day, the celebratory dinner with all the competing districts.
The other initiatives of STRABORGO 2024 will be located among the streets, squares and other outdoor spaces that characterize the neighborhood. The expansion of Stefano Pilato’s “street” exhibition “Bar Orione Borgo dei Cappuccini: the people of a district” will unfold between Via Borgo dei Cappuccini and the surrounding streets, in the commercial area of Porta a Mare there will be shows curated by Consorzio Porta a Mare and street art will make an incursion almost everywhere with fixed and traveling shows curated by Marco Buldrassi. There will be no shortage of rides for the little ones and traditional stalls with craft offerings from Etruria Eventi. The 2024 novelty is called Strabrocantage, an extraordinary version of the market for objects from the past. At the Parco F.lli Gragnani in the city centre, the open-air cinema dedicated to children in collaboration with the “kiosk”. The films will be projected on the screen, but there will be no chairs: everyone will be able to sit comfortably on the lawn, or they can bring a chair from home.
