With this third appointment, “Sunsets of Author” confirms the role of the Conservatory Mascagni as a cultural and educational institution, in dialogue with the symbolic places of the city and with the community.
Admission is free. The citizenship is invited.
After the success of the first two events, the “Tramonti d’Autore” festival, promoted by the Mascagni Festival in collaboration with the State Conservatory of Music “Pietro Mascagni” in Livorno, comes to a conclusion.
The next event is on Thursday, September 11th at 7.00 pm, when the charming setting of the Mascagni Terrace will host the Pithecanthropus Clarinet Ensemble, formed by the students of the clarinet class at the Conservatory directed by Maestro Carlo Failli.
The program offers a musical journey through different eras and languages: from the classical architectures of Mozart (with Divertimento No. 2 and the Adagio for three basset horns), to the contemporary experimentations of Clarinet Processing Unit by Girolamo Deraco, a professor at the Conservatory, to the visionary jazz of Charles Mingus, with original arrangements by Diego Carraresi of pieces like Pithecanthropus Erectus, Jump Monk and Fables of Faubus. To complete the program, there will also be a refined reinterpretation of Blackbird by the Beatles.
On stage, twelve young clarinetists – including piccolo clarinet, Bb clarinets, basset horns, and bass clarinets – will bring to life a dynamic and engaging ensemble, capable of blending executive rigor and collective creativity.
