After a year of hiatus, the Cacciucco Pride returns to Livorno, the tourist-gastronomic festival dedicated to one of the iconic dishes of Livornese cuisine, the characteristic spicy fish and tomato soup with 5 Cs in the name. The event is scheduled for August 22-23-24.
The event includes both the setting up of a Cacciucco Village in Piazza Grande, where tastings, book presentations, shows will take place, and the spread throughout the territory in certified 5 C restaurants, throughout the city, on the seafront, with many gastronomic and non-gastronomic events, urban trekking, cultural visits and much more. A series of certified 5 C restaurants have joined (a registered trademark): La Lupa, Osteria La volpe e l’uva, Granduca, L’Ancora, Gennarino, I’m pasta, Antico Moro, Porto di Mare, Cantina Senese, Kavarna Vinarna, Stuzzicheria di mare (Piazza Mazzini), La Persiana, Il Tritone, Il Dollino. The other city restaurateurs are invited to join with gastronomic and entertainment proposals. Cacciucco Pride, promoted by the Municipality of Livorno and Proloco Livorno (other partners to be defined), was launched at a press conference at Palazzo Comunale by the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce Rocco Garufo, by the President of Proloco Livorno Ombretta Bachini and by the vice-president Antonella Dini. “We want Cacciucco Pride to return in style as one of the main events in the panorama of tourist promotion and enhancement of the city’s gastronomic tradition,” said Councilor Garufo. “Meanwhile, we have set dates that we want to be permanent. Then we ask for the collaboration of restaurateurs to activate with gastronomic and entertainment proposals and also to traders so that in the three evenings around the Cacciucco Village they keep the shops open to make a real city party.” Ombretta Bachini shared the same spirit expressed by the Councilor and in presenting the draft program she anticipated some news. Among these is the fact that besides being able to dine in 5 C restaurants, you can taste the cacciucco crostino at a modest price inside the Cacciucco Village. She also confirmed the contest managed by the chef “Bocca” for the best homemade cacciucco, with the very Livornese title, “How my mother makes it“.
