Tecla Insolia, “Tosca” and Madaus: three great events at Fortezza Vecchia to greet the month of July

The new Italian cinema star Tecla Insolia will be at Fortezza Vecchia on Monday 28 to present the film “L’albero” with director Sara Petraglia. On Tuesday 29, Mario Menicagli will guide the audience through the secrets of “Tosca”, on Wednesday 30 the musical magic of “Madaus”. This is the program curated by Luca Menicagli for Menicagli Pianoforti. Then the Fortezza will make way for “Effetto Venezia”, the highlight event of the Livorno summer (which on Wednesday 30 at 10 pm will bring the Ensemble Bacchelli with “Donne in crescendo” to the Fortezza). Regular programming will resume on Monday 4 August.

Monday 28, 9.30 pm: “L’albero” by Sara Petraglia. For “Sguardi in Fortezza”, the review of experimental cinema by Kinoglaz, Nido del Cuculo and Menicagli Pianoforti, comes the film about youth, drugs and female friendship that won the last Rome Film Festival. A symbolic and touching film, in which the protagonist goes through a path of emotional healing through extreme experiences. The director will introduce and comment on the film, accompanied by the protagonist Tecla Insolia. Tecla Insolia, actress and singer, in a few years, thanks to “La bambina che non voleva cantare” in 2021 about the life of Nada Malanima and above all to “Family” and “L’arte della gioia” has become an absolute star of our cinema, winning David di Donatello and Nastro d’Argento. Tuesday 29, 9.30 pm: “Sillabe di… Tosca”. From “Opera and Concerts” a new appointment with the narrated lyric, with the format “Syllables of opera” that has seen on stage in the last year “Carmen”, “Il Trovatore”, “Turandot”, and “La Traviata”. Tonight it will be the turn of “Tosca”, the three-act melodrama by Giacomo Puccini of which, in addition to a new brilliant version of the story, it will be possible to listen to the most famous arias and moments. “Vissi d’arte”, “Recondita armonia”, “E lucevan le stelle”, the “Te Deum”, “Ha più forte sapore”, will frame a journey that will tell the most intriguing, entertaining, historical aspects of Puccini’s masterpiece. On stage, Mario Menicagli as narrator, soprano Maria Luigia Borsi, tenor Hector Mendoza and baritone Mario Cassi, will play the parts of the three main protagonists of the opera: Floria Tosca, Mario Cavaradossi and Baron Scarpia. All accompanied by a large ensemble of the Orchestra of the Teatro Goldoni of Livorno conducted for the occasion by Stefano Cencetti. Admission: 15 euros full price, 10 euros reduced.

Wednesday 30, 9.30 pm: “Madaus present Frida”, concert. Aurora Pacchi (voice), Antonella Gualandri (piano) and David Dainelli (bass), meet at the Accademia della Musica in Volterra. Inspired by the context of the former asylum and prison, they founded “Madaus”. Their tour began in 2014 with “The time machine”. They perform in unusual places such as former asylums and prisons. In 2015 they open the Madaus Carpenter School in Lajatico. In 2017 they score “Nosferatu” and in 2018 perform in New York, collaborating on projects inspired by Frida Kahlo and Chavela Vargas. In 2019 they release “Frida” and continue to promote it. In 2022 they debut in Paris and play at the Mexican Embassy in Rome. In 2023 they perform in Mexico City. Free entry.
