SINCERELY NOT YOURS

discovering the “white albums”

by Lucio Battisti and Pasquale Panella

For too long, the production of Lucio Battisti with Pasquale Panella (1986-1994) has been forgotten by both the public and the critics. The five albums released during those years, better known as the white period of Battisti, instead tell a new way of writing and representing pop songs.

On Saturday, November 11th, at 6:00 PM, in Livorno, at Symphony Record Shop, piazza Cavour, 23, with “Sinceramente non tuo”, we will discover the “Bianchi” of Lucio Battisti and Pasquale Panella. Massimo Mannucci from Symphony will dialogue with Stefano Lucarelli and Massimo Volpi from the Association Only Music Can Save Us., and they will talk about Lucio Battisti “after Mogol” and invite us to re-evaluate and listen carefully to songs extracted from the five “white albums” by Lucio Battisti, accompanied by video projections and readings of some poems by the Roman lyricist.

On this occasion, a short video by Dario Ballantini will also be presented, in which he talks about how he started to love the “white albums” and how he finds them important in Battisti’s history.

The white albums are called so because of their simple and minimalistic covers; they are, in order: Don Giovanni, 1986; L’apparenza, 1988; La sposa occidentale, 1990; Cosa succederà alla ragazza, 1992; Hegel, 1994.
