Reading of poems by Chiara Marchetti
Hosted by Martina Parigi
“A balloon on the wrist” is the second poetry collection by Pat Villa, after Punctum published in May 2024. Pat has opened the drawer of days, people, moments, facts that have crossed her life: “I will be the muse and we will always be able to touch those moments” (from Musa).
Everything remains in its essence like a balloon tied to the wrist. The balloon accompanies her on the journey she continues to travel always looking ahead with enthusiasm and a desire to tell stories.
The balloon brings so much joy and yet it explodes, flies, gets wet, deflates. The girl cries, rejoices, plays, flies with her sister “in the absence of wind.” She races in the Palace of coffee makers in a glimpse of the 60s. The woman lives, accompanies the journey, “cup of love the oval of the arms” (This love).
She goes on herself with Haste and with Calm, characters of “Dragged Lives” tyrannized by the Web that becomes the “Earthy” cell phone. The mature woman puts together, elaborates, like the witch of “The Fresco” who “stirs the potion.” (excerpt from the preface by Franco Sumberaz). Pat observes and remembers recent events like: the sad story of the Russian dissident Navalnj and his family; she talks with a teenager (Fiammetta); she tells a partisan relay race (The plus and the minus).
The Author is a storyteller who chooses the fascination of poetry to express memories and feelings, giving them spaces sometimes condensable in a chat, like today’s messages that go beyond mere writing. She tells her poetry through performances that intersect with other art forms: painting, music, photographic images. She mixes magical places with violin, guitar, and piano, seeking narrating voices of artists who can embrace poetry in their hearts.
