Nicola Mei, the duo Caturelli-Simonelli and DJ Mirco Vannini for New Year’s Eve on the Terrace

It will once again be the beautiful setting of the Terrazza Mascagni to host Livorno’s New Year’s Eve organized by Fondazione LEM – Livorno Euro Mediterranea on behalf of the Municipality with a proposal that, building on the results of the past two years, also for this event aims to offer Livornese people the opportunity to spend an evening with lightness and joy. The party will start at 10.00 pm with a duo of great talent. It is Valentina Caturelli and Valerio Simonelli, ready to enchant the audience with an original proposal that is much more than a concert: a musical journey through the most iconic and beloved soundtracks, taken from famous films, cartoons, and great musicals. The repertoire is reinterpreted in a semi-acoustic version that alternates intense and emotional moments with rhythmic and joyful performances, making the show perfect for an audience of all ages. Valentina Caturelli is able to switch from subtle interpretations to moments of great energy and theatricality. Many will remember her for her television appearances on The Voice on RAI 1 and Tali e Quali on RAI 2, where she stood out, even meeting live on TV the artist she had paid tribute to: Alexia. By her side, Valerio Simonelli offers the perfect counterpoint: a multi-instrumentalist musician and refined singer, he will accompany the performance with guitar, piano, and vocal harmonies.

The opening with film soundtracks will be followed by the performance of Nicola Mei who will lead the evening towards the fateful midnight countdown. Mei is a versatile musician whose career has been built between a songwriter background and a compelling passion for the stage. Defined as a “One-Man Band” for his versatility, Mei is a performer who can create an immediate connection with the audience, the result of a training at the prestigious CET (Centro Europeo di Toscolano) by Mogol. After his debut in Livorno, for over twenty years he was the resident artist at Giannino Live Music on Elba Island, a stage that consecrated his charisma and talent. His professionalism has been recognized through collaborations with prominent figures such as Lucio Fabbri and Giancarlo Bigazzi. For the New Year’s Eve of 2025 Nicola Mei will be on stage accompanied by the faithful drummer Juan Carlos Miramare Espinoza. Together, they will guide the audience through ten decades of popular songs in Italian, English, Spanish, and French. Not just a concert, but a singing and memory experience in which the attendees will be swept away on the Terrazza Mascagni. A choice that the artist bases on what Marcel Proust said: “Do not despise popular music, it has no value in the history of art, but immense value in the sentimental history of society”.

After the midnight celebrations, the reins of the evening will be in the hands of DJ Mirco Vannini. Born in 1972, Vannini is a historic figure in the Tuscan club scene, a DJ who has shaped the nightlife of Livorno and beyond, working with commercial music from the 1980s to the present day. Self-taught, he started experimenting with turntables at a very young age. His talent and ability to select and mix songs made him noticed very early on: as a twenty-year-old, he was called to play in clubs in Tuscany. His DJ career officially took off in 1995, leading him to perform in the most famous clubs in the region. A showman and complete entertainer, his influence on the Livornese nightlife was consolidated with the opening of his clubs: Sottosopra in 1997 and, two years later, La Villa del Colle. After hanging up his headphones in 2003 for a break that lasted 22 years, the spark returned at the end of 2021 thanks to a friend who proposed a party. The unexpected invitation marked an exciting return to the console that now sees him ready to relive his story and his eclectic musical culture. As in the past two years, Martina Parigi and Leonardo Demi will be the two presenters on stage, for an evening full of joy and music that will end at 2.30 am.
