Photographic exhibition: 100 years of Palio Marinaro

The Palio Marinaro Committee for the 2026 edition of Effetto Venezia presents in its headquarters, at Scali Finocchietti 2, a historical-photographic exhibition entitled “100 years of Palio Marinaro”. From the time when Livorno was just a village, to the grand period of the Medici, to the dark years of fascism and post-war, what the Palio has been and what it is today for the city and its popular roots is told.

The Exhibition is a tribute to the hundredth Anniversary of the first official Palio in 1926. Photos and documents, some unpublished, come from our historical research and the digitized Archives of the Committee, and everything is presented in 8 large panels also with photos of the rowing races of 2026.

Furthermore, as a tribute to the theme of this edition on “Near Future – Ideas and stories of the new generations”, 8 graffiti dedicated to the 8 Nautical Canteens participating in the Palio will be exhibited in front of the headquarters, created by young Livorno writers. Even hip-hop culture has managed to enter the rowing world.
