Mimmo Mollica Band & Donatella Pellegrini / Project “Voices and Afro-American Rhythms”

Donatella Pellegrini is a singer, songwriter, and music teacher from Livorno with a solid musical background and an artistic activity that includes jazz, blues, and easy listening music. After her beginnings in the dance-pop scene (Amya project for EMI), she dedicated herself to the study of jazz at the Siena Jazz Academy, attending courses and seminars on vocal improvisation. Her artistic path then turned towards blues. Throughout her career, she has performed at national festivals such as Pistoia Blues, singing original songs and reinterpretations of artists like Etta James and Willie Dixon. In this project, she is accompanied by the Mimmo Mollica Band, a group active since 2006 inspired by the greats of the genre – from Muddy Waters to Little Walter – the band offers a sound rich in energy and authenticity. Led by Mimmo “Wild” Mollica, a charismatic harmonica player active since the 1970s, the band includes Giacomo Vespignani (guitar and vocals), Sabina Dal Canto (bass), and Mario Ginesi (drums), guaranteeing a compact and engaging groove. “African-American Voices and Rhythms: the power of women in music” is a journey into female creativity through the expressive power of blues, soul, jazz, and their contamination with Italian music. Each evening will feature a different musical group, offering an immersive experience and celebrating the women who have made history in these genres.
