The “Ten Cents Opera” – In other words, opera in 60 minutes series, the fresh and engaging initiative in the name of opera proposed by Fondazione Teatro Goldoni and Menicagli Pianoforti is back. Through three events in the historic Old Fortress, the project continues to focus on accessibility and popularity of opera as one of its key features; selected pages from lyrical masterpieces performed by narrators, soloists, chorus, and orchestral ensemble.
“The title of the series says it all – says Goldoni Foundation Director Mario Menicagli – The Ten Cents Opera is a clear reference to Bertolt Brecht’s masterpiece, but the reference is not only about the ticket cost (10 euros for a single seat), it also aims to reach a wide audience, not necessarily linked to the opera world, both for those who already love it and for those who would like to discover it for the first time”.
The one-hour performances will allow the audience to delve into the emotions that the great lyrical masterpieces can offer, with a semi-staged and strictly costumed version, respectful of the dramaturgy and careful to capture the charm of the highlights.
