Books. “Shh, si legge!” – Silent reading party

An afternoon dedicated to the pleasure of shared, silent reading. Saturday, October 4, from 3 to 5 pm, Villa Mimbelli (specifically near the space next to the theater) will host “Shh, si legge! – Silent reading party”, an event that invites all book lovers to carve out two hours of peace, immersed in the pages. The formula is simple: just bring your own blanket, your own book (any book) and enjoy the magic of reading in company, surrounded by other readers who share the same passion.
The initiative is organized by journalist Giulia Bellaveglia and teacher Giada Marzocchi with the patronage of the Livorno Municipality. “The idea – explains Bellaveglia – stems from the desire to encourage reading in our city and to do so in a climate of companionship, nature, peace, and serenity, all for free. Silent reading parties are already present and fully active in numerous cities in Tuscany and Italy, and Livorno certainly could not be left behind. The aim is to replicate the event typically every first Saturday of the month”. “A shared reading opportunity – adds Marzocchi – and a way to pause, to catch your breath from a hectic week. It is a proposal where the protagonists will be the books and the readers; a moment to share a passion, meet other word enthusiasts, and relax”.
It is not necessary to participate for the entire duration: you can also join for just a part of the meeting, based on your availability. The only rule: electronic devices of any kind (cell phones, tablets, computers) are prohibited, except for those for digital reading (ebook readers), to preserve an atmosphere of silence and concentration. In case of bad weather, the event will be postponed to the next available Saturday.
