Back to the Lounge at FIDANDA, the cultural meetings cycle conceived and curated by Giuliana Donzello, writer, art critic and curator at the FIDANDA Gallery in Livorno, at Via della Venezia, 7. A project with monthly appointments that hosts authoritative voices of culture and art, offering a space for reflection, discussion and in-depth analysis on different themes.

On Thursday, June 12 at 5.30 pm, the Lounge hosts the writer Arturo Falaschi who will entertain the audience with his latest book, The Blue Thread.

Reading and the purpose of reading are the elements behind “The Blue Thread”, suggested already in the introduction by the author. A series of short philosophical stories that invite to reading, in the hope that they are read with the necessary attention, to open up to a thought, to a free reflection, perhaps an aversion, highlighting a problem. Stimuli of thought, reflections capable of putting some certainty of the reader in crisis in a world where everything is written, taken for granted, standardized, and where thought follows a pre-determined line that directs and coerces superficially, because thinking is heavy, challenging, painful.

Then it is better to silent it and unload it on others. Because fiction can only apparently solve the problem of the out-of-tune chorister, but it does not erase the bitterness of the inevitable isolation.

An astute writer, capable of stimulating questions with his stories that are difficult, if not impossible, to answer, Falaschi leaves room for another thought and yet another. Because the world we live in leaves no room for certainties.

Falaschi’s investigation is symbolic and metaphysical: time and death inexorably approach and are left in a comparison that goes beyond the principle: everything that is born in time ends in time, where life is a distant memory of a restless sleep, an unchangeable trait of eternity, understood and limited between an eternal beginning and an eternal end.

Arturo Falaschi was born and lives in Livorno. He worked in the chemical industry reaching the role of manager and factory director.

Always a curious reader and passionate about philosophy, in recent years he has dabbled in writing.

He has won some literary awards at national level and has published his first collection of stories titled Arturo and Zoe which received recognition at the event “Florence Capital of Culture”.

Colored glasses is his collection of stories published in 2017 by a.l.a. LIBRI.

In 2020 he published Dear friend, I am writing to you… (a.l.a. LIBRI), written in two voices with Maria Teresa Fiorato. This was followed by: Call them, if you want, emotions (2021) and The Blue Thread (2024).

For the a.l.a blog, he wrote the articles: “Merry Christmas Greta” and “Wheels in Piazza della Repubblica”.

For Ready, Set, Blog!, he wrote: “The stadium”, “In wine there is truth”, “The fault” and “Almanacs”.

For Ready, Set, Blog 2025 he wrote “The hare”.
