The Night of Pietro Gori, Anarchist

The literary events organized by the Library of the Vespucci-Colombo Institute change time and become The Nights of the Vespucci-Colombo Library. Starting from April, in fact, to meet the needs of the public, the meetings will be in the evening starting at 9:00 PM.

On Friday, April 4th, at 9:00 PM, in the Aula Magna of the Vespucci-Colombo Institute, Piazza Vigo, 1, the meeting entitled “The Night of Pietro Gori, Anarchist” will take place.

Pietro Gori is known mainly for the song “Farewell to Lugano”, but he was a citizen of the world. Starting from Rosignano and Livorno, he brought ideals of justice and freedom throughout Europe, to the United States, in Latin America, especially in Argentina.

About this wandering and much more around the figure of Pietro Gori, Tiziano Arrigoni, author of some publications dedicated in particular to the travels of Pietro Gori, will speak. In addition to illustrating the contents of the book “Viaggi e avventure di Pietro Gori anarchico” (La Bancarella editrice), Arrigoni will also recall the adventurous journey that Gori himself made to Tierra del Fuego and the Andes, as documented in his book: “Nella terra dei lobos. In Patagonia con Pietro Gori e Angelo Tommasi“, also edited by La Bancarella.

To coordinate the meeting, organized in collaboration with Erasmo Libri, there will be Andrea Bruscino, historian.

Tiziano Arrigoni, high school teacher, is the author of various publications of a historical and literary nature, including: “La dinamite nella valigia. Viaggio nell’Italia di Luciano Bianciardi”, “Hollywood in Maremma”, “In fondo a sinistra. ‘900. Storie e passioni di gente comune”, “Garibaldini. L’ultima impresa”.
