INAUGURATION The fantastic in music

Born originally in support of the theatrical drama “Peer Gynt” written by Henrik Ibsen, the incidental music composed by Edvard Grieg has ended up living on its own light, thanks to its particular symphonic writing. The paraphrases on Franz Liszt’s Dies Irae, known as Totentanz, require a soloist of absolute value for the technical and artistic difficulties inserted in the score. Recent winner of the First Prize at the Classic Piano International Competition in Dubai, Alexey Gugnin demonstrates possessing the skills required for this masterpiece of piano literature. The evening closes with the symphonic suite of “Star Wars”, capable of reliving the emotions of this great film saga.
