Friday 13th September, at 11:00 AM, in the Great Hall of Piazza Vigo 1
With the end of summer, the appointments of the Vespucci-Colombo Library in Livorno resume. It starts Friday, September 13, at 11 am, in the Aula Magna of Piazza Vigo 1 with a meeting dedicated to David Foster Wallace curated by Salvatore Toscano. Why is David Foster Wallace considered one of the greatest contemporary writers? What are the characteristics that make his work unique? Salvatore Toscano will try to outline a portrait of the great American writer tragically passed away on September 12, 2008. Passages from his most representative books will be read and commented on to understand the secret motivations that give life to his pyrotechnic prose, to take a peek at the creative laboratory where his small and great masterpieces were conceived.
Salvatore Toscano was born in 1978 and lives in Pomigliano d’Arco. He published Infinite Loss, a short essay on David Foster Wallace, and curated the afterword of Diary of Chaos by Antonio Moresco. In 2024, his first novel titled The Stupid and the Scoundrels was released, published by Baldini and Castoldi.
