Professor Giannini’s Philosophical Garden

The reference philosophers of the evening will be three great thinkers of our time: Michel Foucault, with his theory of biopower, Jacques Derrida, known for his view of law as a deconstructible concept, and Zygmunt Bauman, father of the idea of liquid society.

Don’t miss appointment for philosophy lovers (and not only): at 9:15 PM, in the spaces of the former Cinema Aurora, the Philosophical Garden will return, a cultural initiative that has been able to involve and excite an increasingly wider audience over the years, especially young people.

The evening will take place in the outdoor space of the former cinema, weather permitting; in case of bad weather, the meeting will be held indoors. The theme of the edition will be the mutation of the relationship with power and, consequently, with the concept of law in liquid and postmodern society.

The reference philosophers of the evening will be three great thinkers of our time: Michel Foucault, with his theory of biopower, Jacques Derrida, known for his view of law as a deconstructible concept, and Zygmunt Bauman, the father of the idea of liquid society.

Guiding the discussion will be Professor Lamberto Giannini, a history and philosophy teacher and director, who has been leading these meetings with passion for some time, addressing both enthusiasts of the subject and simple curious.

The Philosophical Garden is also a tribute to Giacomo Del Gamba, a central figure in the local cultural scene, who passed away prematurely. The entire cycle of meetings is dedicated to him, his memory, and his vision of a Livorno capable of thinking and questioning.

Among the most significant elements of the initiative is the large participation of young people: over the years, the Garden has become a real intergenerational laboratory, where philosophical themes become a tool for dialogue between generations, deep questions, and reflections on the mechanisms of society.

To participate, reservation is required via WhatsApp, by sending a message to the number 320 243 6053.

An opportunity to stop and think together, in a time when critical thinking is more necessary than ever.
