Tuesday, December 19 at 9 PM at Chiesa di Nostra Signora di Fatima in via Fratelli Cervi 5 (Corea neighborhood)
Christmas is approaching and, as tradition dictates, it is time for the “Concert of Greetings” offered by the “Coro Rodolfo Del Corona” within the framework of the 20th Polyphony Review of the City of Livorno, organized in co-participation and patronage with the Municipality of Livorno. The concert will take place on Tuesday, December 19th at 9 pm in the Church of Our Lady of Fatima in Via Fratelli Cervi 6 (Corea district). The local formation, directed by Luca Stornello, performs every year in a different location with the intention of bringing polyphony to different parts of the city, while at the same time enhancing its architectural features.
This year, thanks to the synergy with the diocesan Caritas, the choice fell on the church in the Corea neighborhood, a place full of meaning also for its proximity to the Don Nesi Center – now Caritas headquarters – and equipped with a decidedly interesting acoustic.
The proposed program, from the title itself, is special: four different musical readings of the same Christmas text “O Magnum Mysterium” through the centuries, from the 16th century to the present day (with the special jewel of the almost unpublished work by Edoardo Materassi), traverse the concert framing three distinct musical episodes that tell different ways of singing Christmas in distant moments, places, and eras, between classical music and songs of clear popular inspiration.
A fascinating and engaging journey into choral music for solo voices that will be “easy” to listen to and that will surely arouse interest in the audience that wants to be present.
“At the end of the concert, “Polyphony and Solidarity”, the Caritas Livorno Foundation and Caritas Livorno will present the projects promoted by them in favor of all those who live in disadvantaged situations in the territory. On this occasion, the Emporio Solidale in the Village of Charity will be inaugurated on December 20th.
“Admission is free”.
