The photographer, of Livornese origin, returns to his hometown with a rich selection of shots that trace his visual poetics, with famous images of characters immortalized over the years
On Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the premises of the Athena Art Gallery in Livorno, the exhibition Claudio Barontini: observing the city was inaugurated.
This event also allows us to observe unpublished works by Claudio that describe his way of looking at Livorno, in a black and white reading where silences and the metaphysical perception of the image are amplified.
The undisputed protagonist of these photographs is the promenade, an essential element to understand the everyday life of the people who habitually visit it as the seasons change.
A landscape capable of evoking its peculiarities thanks to Claudio Barontini’s art, who has already delivered significant, I would say iconic, images of New York, Matera, and the Cinque Terre.
