In a performative society like the one we live in today, failure is no longer considered: mistakes and defeats become something to be ashamed of, like notes written in red pen to be closed in a drawer and forgotten as quickly as possible.

On the contrary, we believe that there is another way to consider failure and with this project we want to stimulate artists, performers, and citizens themselves to reflect and discuss the possibility of considering failures no longer as a problem but rather as an opportunity.

Who said failing is a crime?

The project “Falling Up – Failing is not a crime” is born to offer a starting point for reflection and a platform for expression and rebirth for misunderstood artistic projects, transforming the ruins of Villa Maurogordato park into a creative and inspiring space.

Livorno, always open to the spirit of hospitality and inclusivity, and its Villa Maurogordato, a symbol of multiculturalism currently in ruins, are the perfect setting for artistic residencies dedicated to performing arts and installations by national and international artists, in which everyone can bring their expression to life and rethink “failures” finding new life in the unique context of historical ruins.

Our goal is not only to change the social and cultural perception of failure through the use of contemporary art but also to actively engage the local community through public openings during the artistic residencies and the final exhibition, promoting participation and interaction of the public with the artists and artworks.

We aim to create a magnifying glass on the city of Livorno at a national and international level, highlighting its inclusive spirit as a city of nations, but also as a tool for the recovery and aesthetic improvement of the park and villa, transforming it into a vital and attractive cultural space with an increase in its attendance by the local community and tourists.

Two days of art, performances, and sharing.

On October 26 and 27 will be dedicated to the public opening and sharing of the projects developed during the artistic residency: two days of art, performance, music, and culture inside the villa park to share experiences, sensations, and emotions and give new life to the ruins transforming failure into a opportunity for rebirth.

But there’s more: it will also be possible to participate in guided tours by Monterotondo Observatory, to discover the history of the villa and reflect on how art can become the
