Excursion to the island of Gorgona

Gorgona is the closest island to our coast, the one we see most often, even when visibility is not at its best, but it is also one of the most exclusive in the Tuscan Archipelago.

Visiting Gorgona is a must for every hiker and every inhabitant of our beautiful territory. Its exclusivity, as well as for naturalistic reasons, derives from the fact that Gorgona is still an active penal colony that houses inmates and guards.

The inmates are all engaged in agricultural work, as the island is a real farm, complete with animals and various crops, including vineyards owned by the Frescobaldi family from which the eponymous and precious Gorgona wine is produced.

Our excursion to Gorgona will start from the small village and will explore, depending on the time available to us, almost the entire island with a large loop that will touch all the most beautiful and interesting places.

The views and perspectives, with cliffs covered with lush vegetation that steeply descend to the sea, will be continuous and always stunning, giving the sensation of being on an island in a distant archipelago rather than just a few kilometers from home.

The farm where the prisoners raise pigs and cows, the old detachment, now abandoned. We will look out over Scirocco Cove and, depending on the conditions, we will eat in an extremely panoramic location and admire the incredible Torre Vecchia, an ancient Pisan fortification.

From this point, if time allows, we will reach the beautiful Punta di Cala Maestra, otherwise we will return to Gorgona Scalo to head back to our boat, incredibly satisfied and delighted.

The excursion to Gorgona is about 3 hours of effective walking and 5 in total.
From June onwards, it will be possible to take a break and swim at the end of the excursion!
Food and drinks are not included in the participation fee.

NOTES:

Registration closes 7 days before departure. Advance payment is required at the time of registration.

Participants’ personal data is required for checks by the judicial authorities.

Disembarking any communication or photographic devices (cell phones or analog or digital cameras, smart watches) is not allowed.

It is not possible to separate from the group or make solo deviations.

CANCELLATION POLICIES
Full payment at the time of registration

From registration to 30 days before the excursion – Full refund minus agency fees of 5 euros + any bank fees of 2 euros.

From 30 days before the excursion to 7 days before – Full refund in case of replacement (subject to the prison’s decision), otherwise a refund of 35 euros (minus bank transfer or bank fees).

From 7 days before the excursion to the date of the excursion – Refund of park ticket 6 euros

24h before – no refund

The excursion is cancelled ONLY IN CASE OF ADVERSE MARINE WEATHER – in case of rain, the excursion will still take place. – CANCELLATION MAY ALSO OCCUR ON THE MORNING OF THE EXCURSION IN THE DISCRETION OF THE BOAT COMMANDER.

In case of cancellation by the organization, we will issue a voucher to be used for the same duration of excursions within one year.
