It will open on Friday, 9 May at 9 am at the Fortezza Vecchia, in the presence of the mayor Luca Salvetti, the deputy mayor Libera Camici, and the municipal councilor for Culture Angela Rafanelli, the first edition of the festival “Dèmadè – Liberi di Libri” dedicated to children’s literature.
Three days rich in meetings, stories, and words, where many authors will take turns on stage to talk about books, stories, and imagination. Some of the most important names in the Italian panorama of children’s literature will participate, such as Davide Morosinotto, Pierdomenico Baccalario, Antonio Ferrara, Simone Frasca, Alessandro Q. Ferrari, Mimmi Maselli, Matteo Grimaldi, Emanuela Nava, La Tram, and many more. The authors will be invited to present their novels, but also to lead writing workshops for stories, poems, and comics.
The event is organized by Démadé APS, a non-profit association founded with the aim of promoting culture and reading among young people, and has the patronage of the Municipality of Livorno, the Province of Livorno, and the Northern Tyrrhenian Port Authority.
A special feature of the festival, which makes it unique on the national scene, is that it was conceived and will be entirely managed by young people: from author interviews, to the bookstore, merchandising, and organization of workshops. The creator and artistic director of the festival is Elaide Garufi, a writer and a 14-year-old student, who turned her passion for reading into a concrete project: “Everyone is invited to participate – Elaide commented – in this moment of openness, which marks the beginning of a new cultural adventure for the city.”
The festival and all workshops are free. You can reserve your spot at: https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/demade-festival-4109083
