Body at Stake, national conference of musictherapy about the globality of languages

Within the environments of the historic liberty jewel of the Livorno seafront, researchers and experts of national and international relevance will confront each other on MusicArTherapy, on its contents, on its strategies, on practices and on methods that can be developed to enhance different languages

Lessons, workshops, labs, and conferences for a two-day event by the sea where national experts from different sectors and disciplines will meet and engage with the public to discuss all aspects of MusicArTerapia within the framework of the Globality of Languages (GDL) approach. The conference Body in play, sponsored by the Municipality of Livorno and led by the professor Stefania Guerra Lisi and psychoanalyst Pier Giorgio Curti, has reached its 27th edition this year and, for the occasion, arrives for the first time in Livorno bringing a wealth of transversal knowledge and skills. The idea is that interdisciplinary and intercultural integration undoubtedly provides greater resources for the struggle for self-determination and the rights of suffering individuals, especially those with severe difficulties, such as people with disabilities.

Within the settings of the historic Art Nouveau gem on the Livorno promenade, national and international researchers and experts will engage in discussions about MusicArTerapia, its content, strategies, practices, and methods that can be developed to enhance different languages which, if integrated, can become tools for connection and transformation. The goal of the conference is to demonstrate, by giving meaning to senseless behaviors, that every human being, even with severe disabilities, should be valued as a work of art of living: “We want to emphasize the importance of the bodily relationship in pedagogical-therapeutic fields with all verbal and non-verbal languages,” explains Stefania Guerra Lisi, who stresses the need for a conference like this as “urgently claiming multisensoriality, the need for empathic communication, and subjectivity, against technological and virtual standardization.” In an age where communication is increasingly fragmented and digitized, the Globality of Languages offers a profoundly human approach that values the diversity and authenticity of individual expression. Making visible the essential value of each person in their uniqueness allows humanity to evolve towards a social and human community capable of ensuring continuity in affective care through the creation of a welcoming and enriching social womb.

STEFANIA GUERRA LISI AND THE GLOBALITY OF LANGUAGESStefania Guerra Lisi is a prominent figure in the Italian educational and artistic landscape, known for developing, in the 1970s together with her partner Gino Stefani, an innovative method called Globalità dei Linguaggi (GdL). This approach aims to integrate and enhance all forms of human communication and expression, crossing the barriers between verbal and non-verbal languages, starting from the idea that each individual possesses a plurality of languages that go beyond words. Movement, sound, gesture, color, and form are interconnected, and their integration can promote a more authentic and profound communication, especially in educational and therapeutic contexts. In this sense, the Globality of Languages is not just an educational methodology, but a real philosophy that embraces art, pedagogy, therapy, and spirituality. In an increasingly complex and interconnected world, its approach offers a path to rediscover the beauty and depth of authentic communication, promoting inclusion, creativity, and personal growth. Stefania Guerra Lisi’s commitment, in these fifty years of cutting-edge work on multiple fronts – also here in Livorno at OAMI – has always aimed to guarantee dignity and voice to any individual, in any psychophysical condition they may find themselves.

Entry to the conference is free but reservation is necessary at livorno@oami.it or 0586/813861 from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 13.00.
