CONCERT IRENE DI BRINO – JOLE CANELLI / BIANCA D’APONTE PRIZE

Irene Di Brino is a songwriter almost thirty years old who constructs her performances by playing on contrasts: the musical simplicity of the piano and voice actually accompanies the desire to untangle the story of a world that is a bit too complex. This is what she focuses on when she writes. How to convey dark, sometimes heavy messages and thoughts in the lightest way possible? The key in music, as in life, is a healthy dose of irony. This is where pieces like “Social Anxiety” and “Twist 2046” originate: the first as a not-so-veiled critique of a society in which those who try to exercise compassion and sensitivity end up thinking they have not understood the rules of the game and isolate themselves from the world, the second as a dream of a not-so-far future in which gender differences are explicitly revealed through “funny” vignettes of everyday life. These are the pieces she brought to the final evenings of the “Premio Bianca d’Aponte 2024” competition and whose arrangement was developed with Francesco Mignogna, for the production of Gino Sozzi and Giovanni Germanelli.

Jole begins to love music during childhood, moved by her mother’s passion for the piano. After several years dedicated to studying singing, she undertakes her first artistic experiences until she forms an artistic partnership with Leonardo Marcucci that begins a long and successful series of performances, collaborations, and opening acts for prominent artists in the Italian and international music scene.

In 2016 she participated in the first edition of the Fire Music Festival in Santa Maria Capua Vetere (artistic direction by Vittorio De Scalzi) ranking 1st in the “Opera Prima” category with the song entitled “If…” composed by Cristian Chechi. Also in 2016, she was a finalist of Area Sanremo. In 2020, she had the desire to take the stage with all-original project, among the authors stands out the name of Francesco Gazzè. In 2022, Jole is a finalist at the Premio Bianca d’Aponte, accompanied by Leonardo. She won the Fausto Mesolella Critics’ Award (historical artistic director of the event), the “Premio ‘Na stella” (title of a Mesolella song) from Virus Studio, with the recording of a song with the artistic production of Ferruccio Spinetti, and the Soundinside Basement Records award, consisting of the production of a live studio video.

Also in 2022, she won the Nilla Pizzi Award.
