GIÒ MARINUZZI’S CONCERT – “Homage to the women of Brazilian music”

At 9:30 PM

A journey through the various Brazilian musical genres during which Marinuzzi, in addition to performing the most beautiful songs dedicated to women chosen from her vast repertoire, presents the always very interesting lyrics and tells stories and anecdotes related to her stay of several years in Brazil.

Gio’ Marinuzzi, singer guitarist and composer, is the “historic name” of Brazilian music in Italy, the first Italian to propose in the Seventies the Bossa Nova (just born in Brazil), later extending her repertoire to other Brazilian genres.

She performed for years at Folkstudio with the singer-songwriters De Gregori (who dedicated his song “Niente da capire” to her), Venditti, Locasciulli, Rino Gaetano etc. and later she was a regular guest at Manuia, the “cradle” of Brazilian music in Rome.

She lived two years in Brazil (’79 and ’80) where she performed in numerous venues in Sao Paulo. She led various groups, such as the Samba Carnaval group, with the participation of some of the best Italian musicians, recording several TV programs and embarking on numerous tours. Later, she was invited by the outstanding Brazilian guitarist Irio de Paula to perform concerts as a duo throughout Italy, always achieving significant personal success.

She presented her recital “Giovanna Marinuzzi and Italian song” in numerous Italian Cultural Institutes abroad (in Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Egypt, Turkey, Bulgaria, Brazil, Bolivia, etc.).
