Cassandra is back! A mythological character known for the gift of prophecy, Cassandra has gone down in history for “never being believed”. Comedian Claudio Marmugi, who already brought “Cassandra” to the stage at Effetto Venezia 2012, will return in the role of the unleashed Priestess of the Temple of Apollo, with her load of satire – but above all with her “comic” prophecies that will seem “unbelievable” (also in the sense of “not credible”) but true!
About Cassandra, sung by Homer (but also by Virgil and Apollodorus), daughter of Priam and sister of Hector, it is said, in fact, that she had the gift of foresight, or at least that’s what all the legends say. But what if Cassandra had actually been just a clear “data analyst”? For Marmugi, more than predicting the future, Cassandra knew how to decipher the present like no one else, and also in an unequivocal way. Cassandra was not a bringer of misfortune, she did not announce tragedies, she did not “bring bad luck”, she was just realistic, practical, and incredibly straightforward.
She had the courage to say exactly what she thought – a clarity unimaginable for a woman of that time – and, above all, she said what no one wanted to hear (as Marmugi has always done with his satirical arrows, both through live shows and through the newspapers he writes for). A show to laugh, reflect, and understand in which predicament we will soon find ourselves.
