The Pro Loco of the Island of Capraia is waiting for everyone at the pier, on the port of Capraia, where the island restaurants will offer various and imaginative dishes with sea breams produced by the Maricap cooperative, the open sea farming that boasts a production of extremely high quality fish, internationally recognized and certified Antibiotic free and sustainable Aquaculture, the European certification that guarantees sustainability and respect for public health, species welfare and the environment.
The weekend of April 25-27 will be a festive weekend, an unmissable opportunity to visit and stay on the island, for a full immersion experience in Capraia gastronomic culture, with tasting of an excellent local product, typical dishes of the island tradition, wines and local products, but also the opportunity to enjoy the unspoiled nature with walks, hiking, boat trips, among the spectacular views of this wild and unique island, between the Upper Tyrrhenian and the Ligurian Sea.
“We are happy to support and promote this new festival that inaugurates the 2025 season enhancing our territory and its excellent productions.” – declares the Mayor of the Municipality of Capraia Isola, Lorenzo Renzi, and adds: “This event will allow you to immerse yourself in unspoiled nature, to experience moments of celebration with our community, tasting special dishes prepared by our extraordinary operators and to taste our zero km island productions.”
Organized by the local Pro Loco Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Capraia Isola, the Maricap cooperative and with the patronage of the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago, Unicoop Florence, Marina di Capraia Isola and Toremar, the Sea Bream Festival aims to replicate the success of the famous Squid Festival, which for 22 years, every autumn between late October and early November, with a big party and the island fully booked, closes the Capraia tourist season.
“With another equally spectacular gastronomic festival based on an excellent local product like the Sea Bream of Capraia, we therefore intend to open the new tourist season in a period, spring, that offers long daylight hours full of excursions, explorations, walks but also relaxation and first sea tastes,” says the President of the Pro Loco, Cosimo Frasciello and adds “in addition to the sea bream festival that will take place on the port starting from 12:30 on April 27th, Saturday, April 26th, there is also an evening of music in the square planned”.
