We are honored to host CIAK the solo exhibition by Andrea Conti, which will be admirable Alle Vettovaglie at the Central Market, from October 4th to November 16th, 2024
Andrea, a painter who dedicates his canvases to Cinema, immortalizing iconic movie frames that have made history in cinematography. Andrea prefers others to talk about himself, and here are two friends who have expressed their ideas:
What are the clouds? Pier Paolo Pasolini wondered, immortalized in the song by Domenico Modugno. We will wonder again and, maybe, lying on a beautiful spring meadow, surrounded by ephemeral grass and freshly bloomed daisies, we will investigate again the changing and shifting forms. Clouds appear from nothing and return to nothing, yet they are appendages of the eternal name we give to life in its entirety of nature. This is, for me, describing Andrea’s painting, his compositions, his way of materializing for a moment the substance of the cloud, that lightness and at the same time the immortal echo. What will remain of us in a thousand years, in ten thousand, nothing but a horizon of consumed traces. So Andrea, aware, entrusts to irony the seriousness of color, to the friendly sketch the precision of the line, to the vagueness the communication of the actors portrayed (actually surprisingly recognizable even in their character and moods), giving us all, with joyful generosity, an eternal, luminous cloud smile.

LUMIÈRE
Writing about Conti and his painting,
of these subjects of that art
which in the seventh rank comes, pure,
but which first becomes in his papers,
so much so for me, that, I admit, I am biased,
a grateful task, because, by my nature,
I appreciate those who, modestly, stand aside
and create with prolific skill.
These works condense, in a true way,
so much passion and so much knowledge
rendered with plastic and light gesture;
capable of fixing the ethereal essence
of the figures born from his thought,
I applaud him, artist of the Ardenza.
