For the longest night of the year, the spotlight returns to shine on the Cinema Theater 4 Mori. The venue will indeed host an explosive New Year’s Eve dedicated to the vernacular and variety show, curated by the company La Carovana, included in the United Livornese Companies.
On December 31st at 9 pm, the night of New Year’s Eve kicks off with the world premiere of the brand new comedy in Livornese dialect “Ir tegame di tu ma'” directed by Alessio Nencioni. “This production – he explains – is inspired by a lady I met when I lived in Via Della Cappellina. One day I saw her talking to herself, I asked her what was wrong and she replied, ‘I have been talking to myself since this morning.’ I asked why, and she said, ‘Because, after cooking for all my daughters, they stole all my pots.’ A classic Labronian character that inspired me to write the comedy based on this episode and the Livornese events she told me about over the years, which I then reworked to build a suitable story. A very real product, which makes us reflect and analyzes, in a fun way, pieces of life that can be found in any type of family, based on personal experience and at least by hearsay, through the vernacular of our days. Despite the modern language, I have chosen to maintain the matriarchal tradition of the vernacular story.”
At midnight, the inevitable toast with sparkling wine and pandoro or panettone will take place, followed by the “Variety Show 2024” with comedy sketches, jokes, funny gags, and live songs. “In our company – Nencioni continues – we are very versatile, we all sing and adapt to do everything. We came up with this particular form of variety show to narrate the jokes by bringing them to life, with the presence of many characters. In addition to this, there will also be more challenging and iconic aspects of Italian poetry and theater.”
