Cinema. A Promising Woman

A Promising Young Woman, a film directed by Emerald Fennell, tells the story of Cassie Thomas (Carey Mulligan), a young thirty-year-old woman who lives with her parents. Despite always being a promising student, the girl dropped out of Medical School several years ago due to a tragic event. During her academic studies, her best friend Nina was raped by another student, Al Monroe (Chris Lowell), and neither the institution nor the law punished the young man, disappointing Cassie, who decided to leave the school. From that moment on, the young woman took care of Nina, but could not prevent her suicide, as she was deeply affected by the violence.

Now Cassie works in a bar and leads an apparently quiet life. In truth, the girl has a secret nightlife: after her shift at the bar, the young woman, hungry for revenge, punishes all the men who try to pick her up at the club and anyone involved with Nina’s violence.
When she meets Ryan (Bo Burnham), a former university classmate, Cassie finally seems to have found peace and a stable relationship, but she doesn’t imagine what lies beneath the surface…
