Defining “Antropolaroid” is not simple: to date there is nothing comparable to the original work of Granata. Perhaps we should call upon Charlie Chaplin, but also the theater of stories and of the Sicilian earth or simply a work on imagination, music, memory. A show of high condensation and theatrical intelligence in which there are, re-elaborated with great sensitivity, fragments of the history of the same performer on stage, with that title that combines anthropological research with photographic shots, memory held in the image, transmitted story, deeply experienced. Antropolaroid is a performance of dark beauty, poignant, crossed by a painful unease, where at times one can also catch, bitterly, the opportunity to laugh, for the characterization of the characters, their succession on stage, for the actor’s own skill in transforming: numerous are the metamorphoses. An extraordinary Tindaro Granata, alone on stage, talks about familiar figures, generations, a land, Sicily, from which to also move away. With the intention of going to Rome, becoming an actor, making movies… Tindaro goes through the decades in multiple roles, at every age, male or female, between games, dances, work, family relationships, fears, brief passages every time to compose dialogues, relationships, situations, he alone and many. Antropolaroid is a theatrical creation full of many emotions, for the text, the acting, for the concreteness and universality of the narration, the enveloping rhythm. For its originality and innovation that it represents for the Italian theater scene, Antropolaroid has received numerous awards: the Popular Jury Prize of the “Anna Pancirolli Theater Fund,” the “ANCT” Award from the National Critics Association in 2011, the Fersen Prize as “Creative Actor” in 2012. Tindaro Granata has been awarded numerous national awards over the years, including the “Mariangela Melato” Award in 2013 as “emerging actor,” awarded to him immediately after the artist’s passing.
