RISI’ATORI: THE “CUP OF CHAMPIONS” OF ROWING

Beyond the moments of great spectacle on stage, Straborgo 2026 offers a full calendar of collateral activities that will animate the entire neighborhood starting from the afternoon of Sunday 31st May, which will be entirely dedicated to the historic Coppa Risi’atori: the “Champions Cup” of the rowing triptych can be followed live on Granducato TV (Channel 15 DTT) and streamed on www.gareremiere.tv, while the big screen set up in Piazza Mazzini will broadcast the spectacular aerial shots taken by drones to allow everyone to experience every rowing stroke up close.

Together with Palio Marinaro and Coppa Barontini, the Coppa Risi’atori is part of the “triptych” of the Livorno rowing tradition. The race is named after the fearless port unloaders who, facing storms on small rowboats, sought to secure the right to unload incoming ships at the port of Livorno, ready to throw themselves into the waves to rescue ships in danger.

After three miles and thirty-five long minutes of open sea, from the Secche della Meloria to the port of Livorno, the Risi’atori ends, after another mile and a half, under the rotating bridge of the “Darsena Nuova” facing the Scali Novi Lena, in the heart of the Borgo Cappuccini neighborhood.

To comment live on the epic effort of the ten-rower boats’ crews, the live commentary by Fabrizio Pucci and Simona Poggianti, while a squadron of drones will allow to follow the race moment by moment thanks to the GPS tracking connected to the boats, which will allow to assess the gaps in real time.

As the crowning moment of “Risi’atori 2026”, the dinner on Sunday 31st May in Piazza Mazzini, offered to all nautical sections and during which the awards of the winning crews in the various categories will take place.
