It was April 21, 1995 when the long-awaited “Dirotta su Cuba” was released by CGD, the first album by the Florentine band of the same name, preceded by the single “Gelosia”, a real hit of the new Italian acid jazz trend. The success was huge and “Dirotta su Cuba” went platinum. Five singles were extracted from the album, all topping the radio airplay charts.
30 years have passed since that iconic album and Dirotta su Cuba, led by the volcanic front-woman Simona Bencini, despite lineup changes, are still in great shape and fully active with an explosive live show.
To celebrate this thirtieth anniversary, DSC released a limited edition vinyl version of their debut album “Dirotta su Cuba” at the end of May. On May 31, they celebrated in grand style on the stage of Blue Note in Milan presenting their “Let’s celebrate Tour II” and achieving another DOUBLE SOLD OUT. The tour started last year with celebrations of the 30th anniversary of “Gelosia” and during which they will play their famous album in its entirety, which paved the way for Italian funk.
