A Woman of No Importance by Oscar Wilde at the Enzina Conte del Vertigo Theatre

Appointment Friday 19 and Saturday 20 at 9:00 PM with a rerun on Sunday 21 at 5:00 PM at the Enzina Conte Theater in Vertigo

The theatrical season at Vertigo concludes with a new production by the hardworking stable company of Via del Pallone 2. Directed by Rebecca Luparini, the Vertigo company stages a masterpiece by Oscar Wilde: A Woman of No Importance. A comedy in four acts, written in 1893 and first performed at the Haymarket Theatre in London. On stage Friday 19 and Saturday 20 at 9:00 pm with a repeat on Sunday 21 at 5:00 pm at the Enzina Conte theatre of Vertigo. Oscar Wilde’s comedy “A Woman of No Importance” revolves around the life of the reserved and morally rigid Rachel Arbuthnot and her dark secret. When her son Gerald receives a job offer from Lord Hamilton, a charming and prominent man, Rachel’s existence takes a hard blow, initiating a plot full of intrigues, secrets, and sharp social commentary typical of Wilde’s ironic and satirical style. The original staging aims to expose the hypocrisy of society at the time, with a set design that envelops the characters in a theatrical atmosphere, highlighting the artificial and fictitious nature of their lives. “A Woman of No Importance” tackles themes such as social hypocrisy and gender inequality, through intelligent dialogues and witty humor that will engage and entertain the audience. Oscar Wilde’s irony, combined with the original direction of Rebecca Luparini, gives new life to a funny and captivating comedy. An opportunity to reflect on deep themes with lightness. In addition to Rebecca Luparini, the cast includes Letizia Limitone, Lorenzo Luparini, Tiziano Pettirossi, Chiara Pioli, Laura Persico, Francesca Nobile, Elisa Puccini, Axel Tonfoni, Fabio Favilli, Andrea Brenna.

Set design by Patrizia Coli – Lights by Ugo Zammit, Luigi Liberti – Audio by Roberto Pacini, Costumes by Francesca Manteri – Assistant director Francesco Cristiani – Makeup and hair by Helena Galeone, stage manager Giulia Socci.
