Unmissable appointment at The Cage: Friday night will be the last date ever of Destrage in Tuscany as well as one of the very last chances to see them live
A truly unmissable event at The Cage: Friday night will be the last date ever for Destrage in Tuscany and also one of the very last opportunities to see them live at all. The band has announced on social media that they will disband in 2024, after concluding the Mannaggia Tour Fall 2023 with four Italian dates in December (after Livorno, Destrage will perform in Rome, Bologna, and San Benedetto Del Tronto) and performing four final exclusive shows in 2024 (including three abroad in London and Tokyo). “Friends, fans, brothers from all over the world, years ago we made a promise: Destrage above all, and that is the main reason that forces us to stop the project,” they write, and after a successful club tour in 2023 supporting their latest album So Much. Too much, and a few select summer dates supporting artists such as Slipknot and Meshuggah, they bid a heartfelt goodbye to the stage. Destrage is one of the most captivating and unpredictable metal bands in Italy and has a unique style combining mathcore, prog metal, and lucid madness. They have released internationally acclaimed albums such as Are You Kidding Me? No (2014), which features hits like Purania and Are You Kidding Me? No featuring special guest Ron Bumblefoot Thal, former Guns N’ Roses member; and The Chosen One (2019), which has been hailed by Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy as “one of my favorite albums.” The band’s latest album is the sixth studio album So Much. Too much, recorded in 2022 for 3DOT Recordings, featuring Canadian producer Devin Townsend on the track Private Party. They write to their fans, “Our journey has always been a mission, a necessity, a means to an end. Something for which we would never spare ourselves, and in everything we have done, we have always given 110% of our strength, commitment, and hearts.” They explain that the unpredictability of life has led them to pursue different paths. The Livorno date will be an occasion for a warm and heartfelt farewell and will feature two Livorno metal bands, Diesanera and Hot Cherry.
Diesanera was formed in 2015 as a studio project, thanks to an idea by Valerio Voliani (former singer of Icycore, Absolute Priority, and Motus Tenebrae) and Ilario Danti (former guitarist of Death SS). The project took off immediately and after a year, Matt Langella on bass, Yuri Giannotti on second guitar, and Alessio Toti on drums (later replaced in 2022 by Emilio Simeone, drummer of Scarlet and the Spooky Spiders and former member of Italian bands Death SS and Eldritch) joined the band. Their debut album, Crumbs, was released in 2017, and in 2020 they released their second album, Grudge, mixed and mastered at Chameleon Studio in Hamburg by Bengt Jaeschke and Benjamin Lawrenz & Chris Harms of Lord Of The Lost. Last May, Diesanera won the Wacken Metal Battle Italy and participated in the prestigious Wacken Metal Battle festival, reaching the fifth position. Hot Cherry, on the other hand, was formed in 2009 and immediately proposed a dirty sound with metal/stoner/classic rock influences in songs that lasted just a few minutes. In 2016, they released their debut album, Wrong Turn, followed by Burnout in 2021, which received critical acclaim. In 2023, they released two covers, NIN’s Hurt and Oasis’s Wonderwall, with the music video for the latter reaching over 100,000 views on Youtube. The current lineup consists of Jacopo Mascagni (vocals), Nik Capitini (guitar), Stefano Jeghe Morandini (drums), and Luca Colombi (bass). Gates open at 9:00 PM, concert starts at 9:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased on TicketSms and TicketOne for 18 euros. Afterwards, there will be a dj-set by Robetta Party. Tickets can be purchased directly at the door for 10 euros including the first drink.
Saturday, December 9th – The second night organized by The Cage and Rockit will take place at the small theater of Villa Corridi with the same goal: to promote new music and support the growth of emerging bands and young artists. Rockit is the oldest and most important community of Italian music in the national scene, and through Rockit Pro, it allows emerging artists to perform live and grow professionally. Once again, in collaboration with other cultural and national associative realities, The Cage is committed to supporting local bands and artists. For this second Rockit Pro Night, four artists will be featured: Brida, Frabolo, Thrapp-Soul, and Michael Perez. Beatrice, known as Brida, is a singer and songwriter from Tuscany, born in ’95, who loves black music and has cherished the dream of becoming a singer since childhood. Passionate about blues and jazz, she released her first original song in Italian in 2020, “Normale,” and in 2022, she signed her first contract with the Bologna label Makeathousand. “Fuck” is her urban-flavored single, anticipating the release of her first EP and winning the LevisMusicContest 2022, led by Elodie. Frabolo, born Francesco Bolognesi, is an Italian rapper, producer, and beatmaker who started writing and composing music at the age of 13. His first album, Benvenuti a Fraboland
