Livorno al Centro is back, a festival of art, culture, and entertainment.

Always richer and more interesting the program of “Livorno al Centro. Livornese Art and Culture in the Center of Attention”, a festival of art, culture, and entertainment that, like every year, will take place in the city of Livorno with attractions of various kinds during the weekend, from Friday, June 28th to Sunday, June 30th. All the performances will be free.

The idea of the festival, now in its ninth edition, stems from the desire to revive the city center and the willingness to enhance the artistic and cultural talents of Livorno.

The festival, organized by the Cultural Association RIKI, is carried out in partnership with the Municipality of Livorno and with the collaboration of the Teatro Goldoni Foundation and other entities such as cultural associations, local artists, businesses, CCN, guides, and tourist operators.

This edition will have 15 stages to enhance and revitalize some specific cultural locations in the area, with the involvement of 6 associations, creating a synergy of interventions by multiple cultural entities.

The initiative was presented today at the Palazzo Comunale by the Culture Councillor Simone Lenzi, the organizer Riccardo Della Ragione, and the director of the Teatro Goldoni Foundation Mario Menicagli.

“When an event reaches its ninth edition – emphasizes Councillor Lenzi – it means that it has now become a consolidated appointment. What we have always liked about this event, first of all, is the fact of being a widespread festival that in some way embraces the whole city, moreover, it truly stems from the grassroots, in the sense that it involves the merchants and the venues where it takes place. Furthermore, it allows to shed a light on the talents of the city.”

“Promoting this sharing among merchants, entertainment professionals, and cultural associations – explains Riccardo Della Ragione, artistic director of the Festival – is the key to growing as a city by developing a stronger civic consciousness. Cultivating and encouraging our talents with the common goal of the cultural and tourist rejuvenation of the city. Everyone contributes their own strengths with the will to network to put the city of Livorno with its peculiarities at the Center.”

Also in this edition, the inaugural event of the festival will be the award ceremony of the Livornese talents which will take place on Friday, June 28th at 7 pm in Piazza Attias. The young writer Sofia Debora Fusco and the Assistant Referee Giorgio Niccolai will receive the gold medal. The awards will be presented by Councillor Lenzi and the director of Teatro Goldoni Mario Menicagli together with the artistic director of the Festival Riccardo Della Ragione.

For the final day, Sunday, June 30th, in front of the Darsena of Porta a Mare, the Theatrical Lyric Concert is scheduled with the participation of soprano Valentina Boi and baritone Pedro Carrillo Perera, accompanied by the Corallo Ensemble. The arias chosen for the occasion will be interspersed with a reading curated by Luca Salemmi that will take us back to the times when the shipyard was born.

The concert (as well as the painting conference on Saturday, June 29, curated by Michele Pierleoni under the title “Livorno and the Sea”) aims to underline the deep connection of the Livornese with the sea and the history of that place that once housed the old Cantieri Orlando.

Furthermore, this year the festival, in the Porta a Mare location, will host on Sunday, June 30th, at 7 pm, the award ceremony of the Palio Marinaro.

The performances of the festival, which will alternate during the three days of programming, will start in the morning at 10 am and will end by midnight. There will be over twenty events on the program and over a hundred artists involved.
