SUDITUDE OF LETIZIA PAPI

For the afternoons of the Vespucci-Colombo Library, in collaboration with Erasmo Libri, on Wednesday, February 21st, at 6.00 PM, in the Aula Magna of the Vespucci-Colombo Institute, located at via Chiarini, 1, the book by Letizia Papi “Suditude” (Il Bene Comune Editions) will be presented, a collection of poems inspired by themes of memory, places, especially those of the South. The presentation will be introduced by Costanza Fratini.

Suditude is a feeling that mixes restlessness and loneliness, fueled by a loving attraction to southern places, wherever they may be, with their grazing light, the sounds that spread in solitary spaces, like the noise of the sea in winter or the twittering in the wheat fields, the sunlit walls. Letizia Papi’s poems move in those silences and spaces that reflect the author’s intimate feelings, her emotional hinterland. As photographer Pino Bertelli writes in the preface, reading them “you are taken by the essence of the combinations, the inspirations, the intimate references that nourish memory, smile, return… they surprise like ‘letters’ forgotten in drawers and taken back to send them where the sea ends and the sky begins.”

Letizia Papi, singer and author, holds a degree in Education Sciences from the University of Florence, and has attended the Free University of Autobiography in Anghiari. She is active in the field of traditional poetry, particularly in ottava rima. In addition to the publication of Suditude, she has edited the volume I come from the forest and the earth, the autobiography of a peasant poet (Aracne, 2018).
