Musical Romance at Villa Trossi

Appointment on June 19 at 9.30 pm at Villa Trossi

Two geographically distant worlds but united by the same language, and not only the spoken one. Argentine music is a true melting pot of influences, from indigenous roots to European contributions, especially Italian and Spanish (click on the link at the bottom of the article to see the program of the evening). Appointment on June 19 at 9:30 pm at Villa Trossi.
Carlos Guastavino, a cultured composer deeply connected to the traditions of his land, writes Indianas setting to music 6 pieces by different Argentine poets to create an organic suite for choir and piano, mixing dance rhythms and folkloric structures with western stylistic elements in a highly evocative blend.

The same structure, this time with 7 pieces, can be found in the renowned Romancero Gitano by the Florentine Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, who skillfully combines music for choir soloists and a guitar that often takes center stage, with poetic texts taken from the “Poema del Cante Jondo” by Federico Garcia Lorca, creating a powerful and visionary Andalusian atmosphere, imbued with tradition, religion, and love for the land.

Forming an ideal dividing line and at the same time an instrumental link between the two compositions, the fascinating Fantasia for guitar and piano that Castelnuovo – Tedesco dedicated to his friend Andrés Segovia and his wife Paquita Madriguera, a talented pianist.

A program of great interest that piques curiosity for an intriguing and engaging concert that combines undeniable cultural intent with a rarity of accessibility and spectacularity.
