Dangerous Liaisons

On August 4, 1953 Maria Callas performed Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana for the last time, in the superb recording that has become an absolute reference in discography, alongside Giuseppe Di Stefano, Anna Maria Canali and under the direction of Tullio Serafin. On the centenary of her birth and on the day of her last performance in the leading role of Cavalleria Rusticana (the same role, that of Santuzza, that marked her absolute debut in a student production of Cavalleria Rusticana and allowed her to win the Conservatory award on April 2, 1939), Mascagni Festival 2023 debuts with the show Callas@100, where Giuliana De Sio will interpret the role of the Divine, for the dramaturgy of Fulvio Venturi. The show will be surrounded by some of the most important operatic arias from the repertoire of the famous soprano.
