Thursday, November 28 at 12 at the Biblioteca Labronica F.D. Guerrazzi in Villa Fabbricotti will be inaugurated in the presence of the mayor Luca Salvetti the exhibition Anna Franchi, between art, literature, and political commitment.
The exhibition, organized on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of her passing and promoted by Soroptimist International Club Livorno, in collaboration with the Municipality of Livorno and with the patronage of the State Archive of Livorno, aims to celebrate this incredible and eclectic personality, engaged on multiple fronts: literature, music, journalism, feminist claims, and art criticism.

The numerous publications, archive records, and photographs preserved in the Anna Franchi Fund of the Local History Section, will be exhibited in the corridor on the first floor of Villa Fabbricotti, in a path that tells the most significant aspects of the intense activity as a writer and journalist, examining her prolific activity in the art world and the strong ties with the Macchiaioli, themes that are also deepened in the halls of Villa Mimbelli. At the Museo civico G. Fattori, documents and iconographic material will be presented to rediscover and investigate Anna Franchi, among the first European art historians and the first ever to write a biography on master Giovanni Fattori. On this occasion, a conference on the theme Anna Franchi, the first and the last Macchiaiolo, will also be organized.
Among the participants in the inauguration will be Maria Emanuela Bacci Di Capaci, President of Soroptimist Club Livorno, Professor Mariella Calabresi, curator of the exhibition, and Jacopo Suggi, art historian, and journalist.

Reassessing Anna Franchi, the project presented to the Municipality of Livorno by the Soroptimist International Club Livorno, does not end here. In addition to the exhibition, the placement of a plaque at the Famedio di Montenero is also planned, which will make her the first woman to be remembered among the great names of illustrious Livornese, and the naming of a city middle school.
