Madama Butterfly live from Royal Opera House

The fourth appointment of the prestigious “Royal Opera House” showcase arrives at the Cinema Teatro 4 Mori. On Tuesday, March 26 at 8.15pm, on the big screen of via Pietro Tacca, one of Giacomo Puccini’s best-known and most appreciated operas in the world will be staged: “Madama Butterfly”; live, in over 900 cinemas in 22 countries, from the Royal Opera House in London, thanks to the collaboration with Nexo Digital, My Movies.it, and Trafalgar Releasing. A special opportunity to take part in the Puccini celebrations on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Maestro’s passing.
Thanks to the sublime score of Puccini, this production with the direction of Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier, draws inspiration from the European vision of Japan in the nineteenth century, and ranks as a moving and heartbreaking performance at the same time. The show features soprano Asmik Grigorian in the role of the protagonist Cio-Cio-San, after her acclaimed interpretations of Rusalka (2023) and Jenůfa (2021). Alongside her on stage will be tenor Joshua Guerrero, reprising the role of Lieutenant Pinkerton, and participants in the Jette Parker Artists Program, Hongni Wu (Suzuki), Lauri Vasar (Sharpless), and Ya-Chung Huang (Goro). German conductor Kevin John Edusei, chief conductor of the Münchner Symphoniker, will conduct the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. With a score that includes some of the most touching pieces the composer has ever written – from the famous aria “Un bel dì, vedremo” to the “Humming Chorus” – Madama Butterfly remains one of the most popular Italian operas in the world.
