Effect Venice 2024, this 39th edition dedicated to World Music, Sunday, August 4th, concert on the stage of Piazza dei Legnami, at 9:30 pm, Luarte Project feat Gabriele Pozzolini.

Born from the passion for the sounds and rhythms of the world, Luarte Project offers a concert of world fusion and original music. Winners of the second prize at the prestigious Alberto Cesa competition of the Folkest Festival 2023, Luarte Project is a project of cosmopolitan musicians who play for an audience that listens, dances, and is moved.

The openness to artistic dialogue and multicultural encounters are fundamental ingredients for a diverse and accurate research of the band’s repertoire. From the world’s songbook to original author songs expressed in languages such as Portuguese, Angolan, Spanish, Cape Verdean, French, and Salento dialect, Luarte brings to the stage a vast array of stories and cultures expressed by the instruments and voices of Chiara Pellegrini, a jazz singer and multi-instrumentalist (voice, percussion, flute, and guitar), Bachelor in Jazz Singing at the “Prince Claus Conservatory” – Groningen (NL); Andrea Musio, singer-songwriter, ethnomusicologist trained in Portugal, multi-instrumentalist (7-string guitar, oboe, charango, voice, and bongos); the Argentinean Joaquin Cornejo, producer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist (tenor and soprano saxophone, clarinet, piano, voice, and percussion); on drums, cajon, and percussion, the special guest Gabriele Pozzolini, graduated from the “L. Cherubini” Conservatory in Florence).

“My name is Chiara Pellegrini, I am a professional singer and multi-instrumentalist from Livorno, seventh generation of musicians rooted in the territory. I was impressed to know that this year the Artistic Direction of Effetto Venezia has been entrusted to Grazia Di Michele, for whom I have a deep respect; even more so to know that my city, the one of the Leggi Livornine, will host an event dedicated to World Music curated by a female artist.”

“I am a Jazz graduate from the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen (NL) and I have lived abroad for 12 years between Holland, London, and Lisbon. In this cosmopolitan artistic hub, I stayed for 5 years during which I deepened in various formations the styles and identities of World Music and started a master with the great Maria João.”

“As a Livornese and artist, this Festival has a peculiar importance for me; I had the pleasure of participating in various editions: in 2023 with a tribute to the great Barbara Streisand on the stage of the Old Fortress, in 2021 on the main stage of Piazza della Repubblica with the female trio FAYA, and with other projects during previous editions.”

“For this edition of Effetto Venezia, I propose a project of which I am very proud: Luarte Project, second prize winner of the Alberto Cesa Award, Folkest 2023; a project that is deeply rooted in the idea of travel and encounter described within it. That’s why I identify with the subtitle of the event Sounds of Land and Sea which represents for me the true essence of music IN the world.”
