Coming soon to the bookstores, starting from October 6th, a new novel by Paesi Edizioni. This time it’s the book by the young author Alessio Moretti, who has been writing social novels for about ten years.
“Nine Blinks of an Eye” represents his fourth literary production in a few years, a sign of great passion for this “revelation” writer who has already won the “Settembre andiamo” Prize with his first novel, which earned him participation in the Pisa Book Festival.
The first national presentation will take place on the next October 7th at 18:00 at the Cinema-Teatro 4 Mori in Livorno. On this occasion, in addition to the author Alessio Moretti, Emanuele Bernardeschi and Michele Crestacci will also be present. The journalist Francesco Belais will moderate the meeting with the author.
In this story, the undisputed protagonist is the madness unleashed by a strong passion. The tale answers the question of what could be the greatest madness done for love.
At the center of the story are two places: the Volterra asylum, the epicenter of relationships, friendships, love, and phobias, from which Pietro, the protagonist, escapes to go to Rome where he will chase his beloved Olimpia for a long time. A decision made in an instant, precisely in 1.3 seconds. The same time it takes for the human eye to complete nine blinks.
In the capital, the protagonist encounters Alda Merini, Pietro Mennea, Sandro Pertini, and Aldo Moro. He will talk to them about love and madness and tell how, from a simple literature professor passionate about epics, he voluntarily entered a psychiatric hospital to meet the woman of his life. If this is not madness, it is certainly love.
“A madman is like a message on a wall: the phrase doesn’t matter, but we only focus on the smeared wall. The more time passed, the less walls I had available, but the more I wanted to write. I knew why it all started. I knew how it would all end. Meanwhile, I just wanted to savor the unpredictable emotion of those nine blinks of an eye, of that leap from the fourth floor, of that journey to the Moon, of this electricity that was crossing my mind. How wonderful it is to be in love. How wonderful it is to be mad.”
from the prologue of the book “Nine Blinks of an Eye” by Alessio Moretti.
