On the occasion of the release of Nicola Pera’s new book “La Santa Teresa”, GM Libri bookstore organizes an event with the two writers. It will be an opportunity to delve back into Giorgio Bernard’s fascinating fantasy trilogy “The Tales of the Outsiders”, always published by GM Libri.

Thursday, June 6th at 6 pm at the Feltrinelli bookstore in Livorno at 12 Via di Franco meeting with two important Labronian authors, Nicola Pera and Giorgio Bernard. On the occasion of the release of Nicola Pera’s new book “La Santa Teresa”, GM libri the bookstore organizes an appointment with the two writers. It will be the opportunity to delve into the fascinating fantasy trilogy of Giorgio Bernard “The tales of the outsiders”, always edited by Gm Libri.

A fun and surprising meeting with authors capable of alternating between writing in very different genres.

In “La Santa Teresa” the narration takes place in October 1955. The Santa Teresa embarks a reduced crew that must lead her to La Spezia for disarmament, but the captain, a mysterious figure who never leaves his cabin, in agreement with the older sailors and unbeknownst to the shipowner, wants to cross the ocean and take her to Rio. Thus begins the chronicle of an impossible crossing, short of provisions and fuel, during which, alongside the life stories of the sailors, strange presences occur, an impromptu hunt for a shark, the encounter with a ghost ship and clashes among the crew members. Will the Santa Teresa reach its destination or, as the young sailors will begin to suspect, drift without reaching any real goal? The story of how it ended is told by the cabin boy, who survived to this day.

In “Tales of the Outsiders” divided into three chapters, we talk about John Zmrzlina, a thirty-year-old good-for-nothing, who lives in his own world, made up of comics and science fiction movies. The problem is that John was right: following an incredible accident, he discovered being hunted by dark creatures under the orders of Mordhia, the ruthless queen of the parallel world of Alterea, and was rescued by a secret organization, the Foundation, which has been working for centuries to track down the descendants of the guardians of ancient powers and train them to face the imminent invasion.

Nicola Pera was born and lives in Livorno. He published, in 2015 and 2016, two collections of stories (Acque sporche and Amerikana) for Edizioni il Foglio. In 2017, for the series “Cattive Strade” by MdS Editore, he published the novel Benzina; in 2020, with GM Libri, the historical novel La Fortezza, and in 2022, with MdS Editore, Il fratello sbagliato. La Santa Teresa is his fourth novel.

Giorgio Bernard: born in Milan, he spent the early years of his professional life between Italy and the United Kingdom, working as a comic book writer and narrative game systems. His debut as a novelist was in 2008, with Giovanni Gelati, Diario di un podestà antifascista, published by Belforte. In 2017, he published Benedetta e Niccolò, the true story of a mother and her child, affected by a severe form of autism. Sangue di Re, the first chapter of the trilogy I Racconti degli Esterni, is his sixth novel.
