On the occasion of the initiatives scheduled to celebrate the 21 years of activity of the Nesi-Corea Association, Friday, April 26th, at 5.30 pm, at the headquarters of the Association in via La Pira, 11, the book COREA. A MATTER OF GEOMETRIES by Fabrizio Brandi, written in collaboration with Enrico Pompeo (Erasmo Editions 2024) will be presented.

This is a story of the outskirts, of a neighborhood built with the rubble of war on a triangular piece of land, between the oil refinery, via Aurelia, and the cemetery of the Wolves. The neighborhood is that of Corea, one of the many Coreas existing in Italy. A neighborhood that intersects its destiny with that of a priest from Florence: Don Alfredo Nesi, former classmate and friend of Don Lorenzo Milani.

Don Alfredo Nesi arrives one winter morning at dawn, there is no soul on the street, only stray dogs barking. They give him a small room. One evening he puts on his coat, leaves the house. Outside a cold wind that cuts your face. He arrives in via Gobetti: a darkness… Only a little street light illuminating the sign “Bar,” the wind moves it creaking, creaking, creaking… He goes in, a great uproar, a fog of smoke from untipped cigarettes. He approaches the bar and orders a glass of wine. Time stops, the smoke thins out, the voices quiet down. All eyes are turned towards the counter. It seems to be in a Sergio Leone movie: Once upon a time in Corea…”
