At 4:30 pm, the “Forgotten Jewel” committee presents the book “The Tower of San Lazzaro – The lazaretto of San Leopoldo in Livornese painting” written by Jacopo Suggi at the Museo Fattori.

There will be present besides the author Jacopo Suggi, Enrico Del Chicca president of the committee and Giorgio Mandalis president of Livorno As he was and author of the text’s preface.

The text investigates the history of the tower, the only survivor of a group of five, part of the lazaretto complex, reviving the old titling of the tower, dedicated to San Lazzaro.
Furthermore, Suggi’s investigation has highlighted the extraordinary peculiarity of the tower, which has been repeated countless times by the painters of the Livornese school, of which the first was Mario Puccini, who left as a legacy to the painters of the next generations this iconographic subject, with which painters such as Benvenuto Benvenuti, Gino Romiti, Renuccio Renucci, Giovanni March, Renato Natali, Giorgio Luxardo and many others confronted.

Participation in the conference is free.
