The Garda Trentino Vocal Group at the “Città di Livorno” Polyphony Review

The XX Polyphony Festival “Città di Livorno”, which this year celebrates its twentieth edition, reaches its fourth event. The season of vocal polyphony events, organized by the “R. Del Corona” Choir under the artistic direction of Luca Stornello, and supported by the Municipality of Livorno and a long list of public and private entities, has distinguished itself over the years for its great attention to the quality of the proposals, always rewarded by the audience’s attention. Like every year, the Festival’s attention is focused on youth choirs: on this occasion, on Saturday, January 20 at 9 PM in the Church of San Jacopo in Acquaviva, we will have the opportunity to listen to the concert of the Garda Trentino Vocal Group directed by Maestro Enrico Miaroma, a figure of absolute importance in the choral world.

This is a formation made up of girls who come from the homonymous children’s choir in a kind of continuous formation, and who have developed a great quality and personality, as evidenced by the prestigious successes obtained in international competitions such as Arezzo and Budapest.

The proposed program is very interesting and testifies to the vastness of the choir’s repertoire: it starts with a gem, namely the performance of a piece taken from the fourteenth-century code of Las Huelgas, coming from a female monastery in Burgos and – a very rare thing at the time – intended for female voices. Among other pieces, it is worth noting the important presence of Mendelssohn, with his motets op 39, which require great interpretive maturity and – to finish, works by contemporary authors such as Durighello and Ferrario.

Polyphony and Solidarity, at the end of the Festival concert, the Caritas Livorno Foundation and the Caritas Livorno will present projects promoted by them in favor of all those who live in difficult situations in our territory.

On January 20th, the project for the reception of pregnant women and mothers with children at the “Casa di Villa Benedetta”, made available by the Congregation of the Daughters of Saint Anne, will be presented.
