The meetings of the Vespucci-Colombo Library. Luca Tarenzi presents The Hour of the Damned.

Friday, September 25th, at 6.00pm, at the auditorium of the Piazza Vigo headquarters, the meetings organized by the Library of the “Vespucci-Colombo” Institute continue. Luca Tarenzi will present his fantasy trilogy “The Hour of the Damned” (published by Giunti Editore) in conversation with Enrico Pompeo, teacher, director, and theater actor.

The event, free and open to the public, is part of the project “The Library goes to the city” and is made possible thanks to the funding from the Center for the Book and Reading and in collaboration with the “Deep Festival” and the Mondadori Bookstore in Livorno.

The Hour of the Damned is a trilogy set in Dante’s Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradise: a tightly-paced prison thriller where Dante’s Inferno is depicted as a terrible concentration camp-like universe, an eternal and harsh prison from which the damned try to escape with relentless determination. The protagonists are the anti-heroes of Dante’s Inferno, powerful and ruthless figures like Count Ugolino, Filippo Argenti, and Bertran de Bornil, ready to follow the escape plan devised by Pier della Vigna. They find an ally in Virgil: he himself must escape from Hell, where he is imprisoned, tormented by the Broken Ones, violent and ruthless fallen angels. An adventure full of twists, fights, unexpected alliances, and continuous betrayals, from the first to the last page.

Luca Tarenzi graduated in History of Religions and works for various publishers as a translator, editor, and consultant. He made his debut in 2006 with the novel (urban fantasy) Pentar – The Pact of the Gods, and since then has published a dozen novels and short story collections, as well as two essays (The Shaman of the Desert and The Shortest History of Urban Fantasy Ever Seen). In 2020, he published with Giunti The Hour of the Damned. The Abyss., a fantasy set in Dante’s Inferno.

Enrico Pompeo is a teacher, director, and theater actor. He organizes cultural events, book presentations, and hosts a literary advice column on his YouTube channel.
