The billboard of the Old Fortress comes alive. It starts on Sunday evening with author’s jazz, then on Monday it’s time for Cinema with a capital “C”, and immediately the first – highly anticipated – events with operas, classical and lyrical music kick off. There is not a single evening at the Old Fortress that is not rich, sparkling, and full of surprises, in the season of 150 events curated by Menicagli Pianoforti.
Sunday 15 – Dynamic Duet Stefano Brondi & Giacomo Riggi
The masters Stefano Brondi & Giacomo Riggi form a truly “dynamic duo”. A show of duets “for fun” where the pop, jazz, rock, and Italian and foreign singer-songwriter repertoires meet and blend together, in a real musical journey of the 20th century Music, without any label. The various musical themes will be the real protagonists of the scene, for a performance in its purest and acoustic form, where Giacomo Riggi will be on piano and as the narrator voice (but not only), and Stefano Brondi as the main voice.
Monday 16 – Gazes in Fortress – Preview: Closed Box Film
For the tenth consecutive year, the festival of art cinema curated by Kinoglaz, Nido del Cuculo, and Menicagli Pianoforti returns, this year also featuring great international guests such as Laura Morante (June 30), Michele Placido (July 14), and Alessandro Benvenuti (August 25). Tonight’s film, the first of the season, will be a cult “surprise”, as tradition dictates, in the perfect style of “Gazes in Fortress”. The full program of Monday events will be announced shortly (entrance, 7 euros with a drink).
Tuesday 17 – “Syllables of… La Traviata”
Curated by Mario Menicagli, the first operatic concert with the Orchestra of the Teatro Goldoni “Massimo De Bernart” and its soloists. Conductor: Gianmaria Fantato Pontini. “La Traviata” is the most performed opera in the world. But are you really sure you know its story, curiosities, and secrets contained in Verdi’s work? Narrated by Mario Menicagli, a journey through the most famous opera in the history of music through its most celebrated arias. Ticket, on Ticketone, starting from 6 euros.
Wednesday 18 – “Jazz Meets”: Different Chords
Poems in notes, tribute to the poet Wislawa Szymborska by Riccardo Arrighini (piano) and Lella Violi (voice). Musical/literary project (and partly theatrical) celebrating “Poetry”. An intimate story, but always lively and ironic, where stories, anecdotes, curiosities, readings, games, and reflections alternate with music, composed by the performers, based on some of the most intense poems of the Polish author, already Nobel Prize for Literature in 1996.
Thursday 19 – Ale & Ricky’s 2025 Reunion
Benefit evening for the Meyer Foundation.
Friday 20 – Studio 2. Friday’s disco
When the Fortress becomes the most evocative open-air disco in the Tuscan coast.
Saturday 21 Prog61: Tribute to Genesis
Since 2011, the “PROG61” have been playing Genesis and driving fans crazy. From the classics of the Peter Gabriel era, like “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” and “Supper’s Ready”, to the successes of the Phil Collins era, like “Turn It On Again” and “Mama”, aiming to recreate the uniqueness of Genesis’ sound and the peculiar progressive atmospheres, maintaining the sound of the time, with arrangements that faithfully reflect the originals. The Prog61 are Fabio Gori (lead vocals, flute, percussions), Franco Falconcini (keyboards and vocals), Marco De Martino (rythm and 12 strings guitar, vocals, percussions), Maurizio Tamma (lead electric and acoustic guitars, vocals), Andrea Giudice (bass and bass Station novation), Michele Guerrazzi (drums and percussions).
